The supporting programme for photokina 2006 encompassed a broad spectrum of events for trade dealers and consumers. These ranged from international trade congresses featuring the latest sector information to important contact and information forums for traders and users, and exciting events that offered the general public an insight into innovations from the world of digital imaging.

The third Visual Gallery took place during photokina 2006 — World of Imaging. The best-known names at the Visual Gallery in 2006 included the collector Prof. L. Fritz Gruber, who passed away in 2005, the Magnum photographer Martin Parr and the rock star Bryan Adams.
A further highlight was “lifestyle media at photokina”.
Located in the “Audiovisual Presentation and Communication Technology” section, this new presentation platform at photokina 2006 displayed real-life practical solutions for the convergence of information, communication and entertainment technology.
Trade dealers from all over the world visited the International Specialist Trade Centre to take some time out from the hustle and bustle of the fair.

Bringing the magic of photography to life: In an exotic lounge atmosphere, Grenzgang founder Hartmut Fiebig presented an extraordinary exhibition of photography. Previews of his new documentary project “Africa Inside” were offered several times a day.
“Meet the Professionals” once again served as a contact forum for the creative photography scene and hosted information events and workshops on current sector topics.
The fotocommunity Lounge at photokina was a major attraction for trade visitors and photography fans, who gathered at the 260 square metre lounge to attend exciting presentations and workshops.
The YOUNG IMAGING DAYS represented a special event for all those interested in the current trends of youth photography.
The event was organised by the Children’s and Young People’s Film Centre in Germany (KJF), which awards the German Young Photographer Prize.
